WHAT IS MIND COACHING? 

 

Mind coaching is all about communication. It is a way to:

  • provide you with the tools, skills, capability and attitude to enhance your personal development;

  • enable you to move forward to even higher levels; and

  • accomplish more whether it is in your personal or professional life.

 

Mind Coaching uses communication skills and techniques drawn from Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Cognitive & Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Neuroscience.

WHAT IS NLP?

NLP is a philosophy and educational tool, which is designed to teach people how to become happier and more effective. It teaches people how to think and communicate in more useful ways. It explores HOW we think and HOW we behave. It allows you to discover what's going on when you are doing something well and not doing something well. It allows you to find out how other people do things effectively. It shows you the difference that makes a difference.

NLP is fast becoming one of the most sought-after tools of human enhancement and performance improvement that has ever been known. Science Digest describes it as 'the most important synthesis of information available today about human communication'. People have used NLP to improve their lives in many different ways.

Who Invented NLP?

In the 1970's, two researchers from California, Richard Bandler and John Grinder studied the most effective communicators around and found that these people used particular patterns, which revealed how they were so successful. These patterns became known as NLP.

WHAT IS CBT?

 

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, also referred to as CBT, is an evidence-based psychological treatment proven to be effective through rigorous scientific research. This means that CBT treatment is not based on what people think might work, but what has been proven to work.

 

Evidence-based treatment can increase the chance that a problem is identified accurately and treated effectively. This can prevent the problem from being drawn out unnecessarily and decrease the chances of it coming back (i.e., relapse).

Research has shown that CBT is an effective treatment for a wide range of problems (e.g., depression, anxiety, chronic pain, disordered eating, low self-esteem, anger problems and addiction).

In particular, CBT has been shown to be effective in the management of anxiety and depression, and is as (if not more) effective as treatment with medication alone. Research also shows that people experiencing anxiety and depression are less likely to relapse when treated with CBT: They tend to get better and stay better!

WHAT IS NEUROSCIENCE?

 

Neuroscience focuses on the brain and its impact on behaviour and cognitive functions, or how people think.

Neuroscience is an interdisciplinary science that works closely with other disciplines, such as mathematics, linguistics, engineering, computer science, chemistry, philosophy, psychology, and medicine.

Neuroscientists study the cellular, functional, behavioural, evolutionary, computational, molecular, cellular, and medical aspects of the nervous system. There are various fields that focus on different aspects, but they often overlap.
